Dermaplaning in Sarasota for Smooth, Bright, Cared-For Skin
You have probably noticed it in good light. The soft peach fuzz along your cheeks and jaw, the dull, flat look that creeps in when dead skin sits on the surface too long, the way makeup grabs and cakes instead of going on smooth. A lot of exfoliation either does not touch it or goes too aggressive and leaves your skin red and reactive for days.
Dermaplaning is a gentler answer. It is manual exfoliation, done by hand with a careful, steady blade, that lifts away dead skin cells and that fine surface hair in one pass. The result is immediate. Smoother skin, a brighter, more even look, and products that finally sink in instead of sitting on top. I am a licensed Facial Specialist here in Sarasota, and dermaplaning is one of the treatments I offer under my Natural Esthetician / Holistic Skincare approach, clean, customized, and built around your skin.
How I actually do dermaplaning
When people book dermaplaning, they usually want to know if it will hurt or if their hair will grow back thicker. Fair questions, and the answers are no and no. But the part that actually matters is how carefully it is done.
This is not a one-size pass. Skin is different from face to face and even from one area of your face to another, so I read your skin first and adjust as I go, angle, pressure, where to be extra gentle. Honestly, anybody can run a blade across skin. What makes the difference is reading your skin and knowing where to ease off. That care is the whole reason it comes out smooth and calm instead of irritated.
I bring a clinical eye to it, the kind I built over years in healthcare before this, paired with the unhurried, cared-for experience I learned in luxury hospitality. Luxury and clinical, in the same room. My promise stays the same as everything else I do. From the moment you walk in, I want you to feel safe and genuinely well cared for.
What dermaplaning can do for your skin
By clearing away the layer of dead cells and fine hair sitting on the surface, dermaplaning can make a real, visible difference right away, and it sets your skin up to do better afterward too. The American Academy of Dermatology recognizes exfoliation as a way to support a brighter, smoother appearance when it is done correctly for your skin type.
A session can help you:
See immediately smoother, softer skin you can feel with your fingertips
Get a brighter, more even-looking complexion
Help skincare products absorb more effectively afterward
Let makeup go on smoother, with less catching on fine hair
Gently lift dull, dead surface skin without harsh chemicals
Results show up right away and typically last a few weeks, until your skin naturally turns over again. Everyone’s skin is different, so how often it suits you is something we figure out together.
Pairing dermaplaning with the rest of your care
Dermaplaning is great on its own, and it also plays really well with other treatments. Because it clears the surface, a custom facial right afterward can work more deeply, and your products go on cleaner skin. I will often build the two together when it makes sense for your skin.
It also fits into the bigger picture of how I work. I do not see skin as separate from the rest of you, which is why I keep skincare under one roof with the Bodywork & Massage Therapy hub side of my practice. If you want to talk through what combination actually serves you, I would rather build that with you than sell you a package you do not need.
What a session with me looks like
You come in, and we talk first. Not a form, a real conversation about your skin, what is bothering you, anything sensitive or reactive I should know about. From there I cleanse and prep your skin, then work area by area with slow, careful passes, checking in as I go. We finish with calming, nourishing products suited to your skin, and I will walk you through how to care for it for the next day or two.
The little things matter to me, the scent, the temperature, whether you want your eyes covered, your comfort the whole time. That is the luxury side, and it is the whole point. My studio sits near the Rosemary District in downtown Sarasota, quiet and unhurried, with real room in the schedule so nothing feels rushed.
Is dermaplaning right for you?
Dermaplaning suits most skin types and is a nice option if you want smoother, brighter skin without harsh chemicals or downtime. It can be especially satisfying before an event, when you want makeup to sit perfectly.
It is not for everyone, though, and I would rather be honest than book you into something that is not a fit. If you have active acne breakouts, inflamed or broken skin, certain skin conditions, or you are unsure because of a medical situation, dermaplaning may not be right for you that day, and I will tell you so. For anything that needs a diagnosis or sits in medical territory, please check with your dermatologist first. This is supportive skincare for your skin’s health and appearance, not medical treatment, and I am happy to work alongside a care plan your doctor has set.
Ready when you are
If you want smooth, bright skin from a treatment that is actually built around you, book your dermaplaning session, or Contact me first and we will talk through whether it is the right fit. Either way, you will be well taken care of.

Tracy Bisaha, Licensed Facial Specialist (FB9776285) and Licensed Massage Therapist (MA90791)I’m the founder and sole practitioner behind Bodywork Elevated in downtown Sarasota.
My journey into this work began in healthcare, first as a Certified Nursing Assistant and later as a phlebotomist in both hospital and laboratory settings. Those experiences taught me to look beyond the symptoms and truly pay attention to the person in front of me. They also taught me the importance of compassion, trust, and helping people feel safe during vulnerable moments. That clinical foundation still shapes how I read a body today.
I’m dual-licensed in Florida as both a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Licensed Facial Specialist. My advanced training includes CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute Myofascial Release I through John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Seminars, Spinal Flow Technique with Dr. Carli Axford, Brazilian Lymphatic Massage through the Josie Rushing Method®, and certification in the Emotion Code®, Body Code™, and Belief Code® developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson.
One of the greatest gifts I can give the people who trust me with their care is my commitment to keep learning. Every class I take and every technique I study gives me another way to better support the unique person on my table. I truly believe learning is a lifelong journey, and I never want to stop growing in a profession I love.
My years in luxury hospitality, including The Ritz-Carlton, taught me something just as valuable as my clinical training: how you feel while you’re receiving care matters just as much as the care itself.
A warm welcome.
A peaceful environment.
Never feeling rushed.
Knowing someone is fully present with you.
Those aren’t extras to me, they’re part of the treatment.
Today, those two worlds come together in everything I do. My healthcare background helps me understand the body. My years in luxury hospitality remind me that every detail of the experience matters. Together, they’ve shaped the philosophy behind Bodywork Elevated.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is manual exfoliation that gently removes dead surface skin and fine peach fuzz with a careful blade. It leaves skin immediately smoother and brighter and helps your products absorb better afterward.
Does dermaplaning hurt?
No, dermaplaning is not painful when it is done carefully. Most people find it relaxing, and you should feel only a light scraping sensation, not discomfort. Reading your skin and adjusting as I go is what keeps it comfortable.
Will my hair grow back thicker after dermaplaning?
No. Dermaplaning removes fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) at the surface, and it grows back the same way it was, the same texture and color. It does not change the type of hair you have.
How long does dermaplaning last?
Results are visible right away and typically last about three to four weeks, until your skin naturally renews its surface layer. How often it suits you depends on your skin, and we can plan that together.
Is dermaplaning better than microdermabrasion?
Neither is simply better, they do different things. Dermaplaning is a gentle manual exfoliation that also removes peach fuzz, while microdermabrasion uses a device to resurface. The right choice depends on your skin and your goal, which is something I read at your appointment.
Can I dermaplane if I have acne?
If you have active, inflamed acne breakouts, dermaplaning may not be right for you, since working over irritated skin can make it worse. I will assess your skin and tell you honestly, and for acne that needs treatment, please check with your dermatologist.
Should I get a facial with my dermaplaning?
You can, and it often works really well. Because dermaplaning clears the surface, a facial afterward can work more deeply and your products absorb better. I will help you decide what combination actually fits your skin.
